Milano Living Green: A Sustainable Residential Complex

Bringing Nature and Modernity Together

The Milano Living Green project aims to create a new residential complex in the Lambrate area of Milan, promoting a green and sustainable lifestyle. Designed by Marco Guido Savorelli and Daniela Bernabei, this project seeks to harmonize nature and urban living, minimizing the negative impact on the environment.

The inspiration for Milano Living Green comes from the concept of floating gardens, which will be a central feature of the complex. The designers envision a space where plants, trees, and humans coexist, creating a unique blend of city and countryside living. The use of wide and bright windows will allow residents to connect with nature, while the careful selection of materials will ensure sustainability.

What sets Milano Living Green apart is its location in the vibrant Lambrate area, one of Milan's fastest-growing real estate districts. The project aims to transform a former industrial area into two residential buildings with 60 apartments each. Surrounding the buildings will be balconies, trees, plants, ponds, gardens, and open spaces for yoga and sports, creating a green oasis in the heart of the city.

The realization of Milano Living Green involves changing the shape of the existing building to create a new alignment of the main facade and develop parallel axes within the internal courtyard. The focus is on visual convenience, living comfort, and energy efficiency. The living units will offer semi-transparencies and strong perspective lines, providing a visually captivating experience for residents.

The property consists of 51 apartments of various sizes. The ground floor will feature an entrance hall, outdoor and indoor lounges, an indoor swimming pool, and large green spaces for shared use. The upper floors will be dedicated to the apartments, each with its own balcony and private double-height garden. The basement will house cellars, waste management facilities, technical rooms, parking lots, and sports facilities.

Milano Living Green is designed to be a zero-waste residential complex, adhering to the highest A-energy class standards. Advanced heating systems and high-quality materials will ensure energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. The project aims to create a living environment that promotes a green and sustainable lifestyle.

Construction of Milano Living Green is scheduled to begin in October 2020. The project takes advantage of the avant-garde trend in the Lambrate area, known for its contemporary art galleries and exhibitions. The design incorporates the concept of floating gardens, providing residents with expansive views and a sense of tranquility amidst the bustling city.

The Milano Living Green project faced challenges in terms of its location, as the surrounding area did not have any significant landscape elements. However, the designers overcame this obstacle by creating a new green courtyard and incorporating high-altitude green areas to lighten the building volume. The result is a visually stunning and environmentally conscious residential complex.

Recognizing its excellence in design and innovation, Milano Living Green was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2021. This prestigious award honors designs that exhibit outstanding creativity, technical skill, and a commitment to improving quality of life.
